Recognition + Momentum
We updated mozilla.com today with news of the four editorial awards Firefox has received in the two months since the release of 1.5. We also issued a press release this morning highlighting the strong adoption achieved by Firefox 1.5 - over twenty million people worldwide have made the move. Both the editorial recognition and the strong uptake of the current version of Firefox speak to the tremendous work being done by Mozilla project contributors.

Nice, but something tells me you optimised http://www.mozilla.com/images/home/awards-2006-jan.png for a white background, not blue.
Robin: should be a transparent PNG but let me know if you’re seeing the homepage at mozilla.com display the graphic and background incorrectly and we’ll investigate.
Seems to be fixed :) The awards image was sitting up underneath the download button, but it’s now on the white below the screen and looks fine.
That’s terrible alt text, “Firefox award logos”. You’re setting a very bad example here, mozilla.com ought to be an example to others in correct use of web standards. Please read . Proper alt text would be something like “Firefox has won the blah blah blah awards for this and that”, but even no alt text at all would be better than the current.
I wrote “Please read http://hixie.ch/advocacy/xhtml “, but the stupid blog software ate the url.
Jonas: thanks for the feedback. We’ll add this in today.
I notice it’s fixed already. The new text is a perfect example of alt text used right. Very impressive.
