Firefox Flicks Update

Wanted to share some news on the Firefox Flicks Ad Contest we launched in December 05. The marketing team’s been out rounding up partners, soliciting entries and previewing what sounds like an open source zombie movie. Not so sure about that last one. Here are some stats to share with you: over a dozen partners have signed up to promote Firefox Flicks, including SXSW, the Vail Film Festival and the Film Arts Foundation. We’ve received over 35 submissions so far, and will be rolling out individual commercials over the next several weeks at FirefoxFlicks.com. We think we’re well on our way to finding some outstanding, creative ads for Firefox in the month ahead. Check the Flicks Blog for updates and links to the ads soon.

“To all my friends!”

Hank ChinaskiWow - that was great. Asa, Ian and I just got done hosting a web conference with about a dozen Spread Firefox members where we shared the high level marketing plan for Firefox in 2006, and details on upcoming enhancements to Spread Firefox. We also brainstormed together on Mozilla community marketing ideas.

For a first try at this kind of community meeting, I think things went well. I feel energized by having seen how enthusiastic the SFx members who gave us feedback today were, and I think the next several weeks are going to be creative, productive ones. Great ideas on things community members can get rolling quickly came up in the meeting, which we’ll archive and post on SFx.com soon.

Thank you to everyone who was there today. We’ll definitely do this again soon.
